Age: 20
Gender: Male

Custom Title: The Silver Shadow
APPERANCE:Velox can be a complicated person to read, and his past is often not spoken about, but if you have the right knowledge and know where to look, his appearance can often hint about him and his past.
Velox stands at a tall 6’2’’, and yet weighs in at only 150lbs. His body is in excellent condition, as he is very athletic and has the body structure of an acrobat or a well-conditioned runner. His movements are graceful, yet precise and often fast paced. To see his body move the way it does is like watching the wind itself blow. All this hints at how much he trained, how much he concentrated on becoming what he is.
With emerald green eyes as perceptive as a hawks, and streamlined, yet soft features on his thin face, Velox at first can seem like a sincere and caring person. But look again and you will see his hardened expression and a depth in his eyes that tell of a past full of hardships and tough times. It is impossible to read Velox’s emotion without looking at his eyes. His eyes tell all about him, and he can never hide what they show. Instead he can make you look past the eyes. His skin is a pale color, almost close to white, and he has medium length hair that hangs loosely with a tree-bark brown color. Some may look at his face and think it slightly handsome; others may look and be scared off by his pure seriousness. Both tell of the complexity of his own personality.
All over his body Velox has things that tell about him. The things that stand out the most are his numerous scars. He has many scars from cuts and burns located mainly around his midsection, and each one speaks about a specific battle. He often hides these from view under cloaks and other clothes, and you are lucky if he reveals any of them to you. Another thing that speaks about who Velox is, and is easy to see, is the airbender necklace that is always around his neck. It is a simple chain necklace with the airbender symbol in white on a black pendant, yet it tells all about him. It shows he is an airbender, it shows he loves his people, and it reveals he has no fear of being discovered. He even has the airbender tattoos to prove even farther he is an airbender through and through. But these airbender tattoos aren’t like the normal ones. They are black, and look like raven feathers. These tattoos are often hidden, though, under gloves and headbands in the same way his scars are hidden.
Velox’s choice of clothes is often simple, and for a casual day he often only wants to fit in. In public, Veloxn will wear a specific set of clothes most of the time. This set of clothes consists of tan pants that fit loosely with a brown belt, a white shirt with long, loose sleeves and a green vest on top and white gloves and a headband. The outfit is simple enough, and hides his tattoos well while leaving him similar to most people in an earth nation city. He will sometimes where other sets of clothes, or a black cloak on top of this set, but most of the time this is his choice public outfit.
Although it doesn’t happen often, Velox will occasionally go to a formal event. On these events he has a specific outfit that he will wear, and will often try to look his best even when he has no reason to. The outfit consists of straight fitting dark grey pants and a black belt, a light grey, long-sleeved, button-down shirt with dark grey swirl designs, and a “V” shaped black vest with light grey swirl designs of the same type. He will have grey gloves and a headband to hide his tattoos, and his hair will appear straight and combed. From a distance he could look like a bar of silver with the colors that he wears, but all and all it is a fine outfit for formal events.
At nighttime, when it is time for him to do his missions and work, he has a separate outfit that serves many of his needs. The outfit consists of a hooded, long-sleeved and loose fitting robe-type top overlaying matching pants. The outfit is dark grey in color with white embroidering and is made of a very lightweight and flexible, yet strong material. It is capable of concealing many items from view as well as muffling noise and serves great when stealth is needed. Under this outfit he has many weapons concealed, like knives, swords, and even hidden blades that pop out of his wrist guards. Be careful when you see him in this outfit, as the Silver Shadow will show little mercy.
PERSONALITY:Even though he is still rather young, Velox never had the personality you’d see in an airbender kid. As a child, he grew up quite introverted, and it didn’t help that he had almost no one to talk to besides his parents. This lead him to becoming very withdrawn, and often times he would seek entertainment and comfort within the confines of his own mind. As time progressed he was eventually forced to start hiding, and it was then that his personality only worsened. He began talking to no one, and if he ever did speak it was only a few words. He had many emotions, but he always had trouble expressing them. It was as if they were being blocked by something, though what it was he did not know. Instead, he always appeared serious, and behind this stoic facade he was often deep in thought. He was really more like the elder monks from long ago than the hyper and outgoing kid he should have been. It was like he had inherited one of their spirits.
It was not long till Velox learned he was an airbender, and this made him happier. For awhile he seemed more joyful and outgoing, but this soon ended when he learned of the horrible fate of the airbenders from long ago. This knowledge forged inside him an anger that would grow for the rest of his life and destroy him from the inside out. A few months after this, Velox’s new anger was locked after seeing his parents’ horrible death, and he began to lose control of his emotions. It was at that age, about 12, that his personality began to diverge. Most of the time he appeared polite and respectful. He was well mannered, generally happy, and wouldn’t even think to hurt a fly, practically like a noble. But beneath this royal façade he hid the new, darker parts of his personality. At times when he was alone and thinking back on the past, these traits showed the most. He struggled to coup with the events of his past, and was slowly filled with anger and revenge, desperate to kill any firebender he could find. He was not afraid to shed blood, and had no fear. Unknown to him this would lead to the slow destruction of his life.
As more time passed, this divergence in his personality only grew, almost to the point of being schizophrenic, as his personality switched with night and day. He felt like he could use his anger as his power, but truly his mind was being greatly hurt by this mix of emotions raging inside of him. His mind was literally being harmed by all that was now inside it, and often times he would begin to appear psychotic and out of control. He acted as if death meant nothing to him, but he knew well enough that at night, when he was asleep, his past and the deaths he had caused would come to haunt him.
But then a startling thing happened. He discovered love, and with it a new goal. But this was no ordinary love; he was in love with his most hated enemy. With the help of a firebender he began learning to control his emotions and found a new path in life. He now wanted rid himself of his anger, and focus more on the happier things in life. He became aware of just how messed up he truly was, and set out on a new path to correct that. The once distinct line between his alter egos began to blur, and finally he began to regain control of what Velox felt to be his most prized attribute: his intelligence.
During this new path to correct his mind, Velox encountered something he had not expected. The firebender he loved and who had been helping him to get rid of his assassin like personality revealed her true colors, and showed that she truly was an enemy. This nearly destroyed Velox, and all the hard work he had accomplished was almost lost. It took all his will and mental power to retain what was left of his mind, and slowly but surely, he began to go back to what he was before this love. It was after that event that he took upon a goal of making sure he could control his mind and emotions, and so he had to take control of his personalities. It was at that point that he began rigorous mental training, and the new path into becoming what he felt he was always meant to be.
During the most recent two years Velox spent much time learning to control his mind. He did many brain exercises, read any book he could find, and studied the arts of war. All were in attempt to make himself smarter than any opponent he would face, and to strengthen his mind so it would no longer fall into darkness. And with all that help the two personalities he once had, one being the “Air Assassin”, and the other being the “Air Prince”, finally merged into one, and he began calling himself the “Silver Shadow”. As the Silver Shadow, Velox finally had no confusion in knowing who he was, no confusion in what decision to make. He felt that his mind was finally a pure whole, and with it he gained much wisdom.
Currently Velox is still a big introvert, as was his nature since birth. Much of the time he is stoic, appearing withdrawn or serious as he goes deep in thought. He has learned to control his emotions well, but they are still there waiting to be released. Instead he looks on situations with logic and the wisdom that he has to determine what best to do. He takes great pride in his intelligence and he believes the reason he is so powerful is through his mind. He can look at a situation, define its every aspect, and then logically think of a plan. He loves to try to outsmart an opponent rather than over-power them.
Now being the Silver Shadow, Velox still does a few things similar to his past. He does not hate firebenders anymore, but often times it is obvious he is less comfortable around them, as he has lost all trust of them. He still does occasional assassin’s missions, but usually now they are for the war effort to help get rid of someone who is causing the nations much trouble. He doesn’t kill normal citizens anymore. He just doesn’t see the need to. His heart may be like stone now, but he still has enough sincerity in him to know that this war needs to end. He wants the suffering to stop, and he knows that there needs to peace in the land if his people are to prosper once more. He knows what has to do, and he knows how he will do it.
Of all things he loves, Velox cherishes most his heritage, his people, and his love. He would die to defend these things, and he is not afraid to draw his blade whenever the situation calls for it. It has become his set goal to defend the temples and the airbenders, and anyone who speaks down on them becomes an instant enemy for him. Though he still harbor’s a hatred of the fire nation, he has calmed somewhat and is now capable of making friends with firebenders. Other things he likes includes open, uncrowded areas over small areas packed full of people. He loves being on his own, and is very independent. He loves the mountains and the cold weather, and favors night over day time. His favorite colors are purple and silver. He favors the mind over the body, seeing brute strength as something violent and not worth seeking. He seeks friends who are truly trustworthy, and share similar goals as him, but other than that he will make friends with anyone who is kind to him. All and all, Velox can be quite a complicated person.
Velox may have learned to control his emotions, but with the right settings and right words spoken, he can still lose control. Around any enemy, or being in the fire nation, will bring his anger forward more, and when anyone speaks down on the airbenders he will lose control completely and his anger will spring forward. In moments like these, he loses the ability to think rationally and will hurt anyone in sight that he sees fit to hurt. But they are very rare moments, and usually he can maintain his cool and act calm.
Coincidentally when he is in the mountains or at an air temple, Velox will appear much happier and relaxed than normal. Around good friends in such a setting he will be more outgoing and maybe even start a few conversations. And around someone he loves, he can’t hold in his emotions at all and is capable of talking for hours straight. He feels like he is on a cloud at moments like these, and will be in very high spirits, some of the only times he will actually be happy.
Velox has only a few goals in life, yet he always is busy because of these goals. First and foremost, he wants to bring together the surviving air nomads. Most of his effort was spent in actually finding the surviving airbenders, but recently he has begun attempting to get them to live at the temples, in hopes he can bring back the air nation once again. To him, nothing is more important than achieving this. That is why he named himself “First prince of the air nomads”.
Next in line Velox wants to help out with the war and do his part to make it end. He knows that through the war he will be able to seek his revenge on the fire nation. He spends most of his effort on this by helping out at any earth nation cities under attack, and most of all wants to teach the avatar airbending and pass on what he knows.
Lastly, Velox wishes to contribute something to airbending. He has made it a goal before to become the most powerful airbender, and though he thinks he has succeeded in this, he is still going farther. He wants to develop something for airbending that can be used for generations to come, and to be remembered for this, and he believes he has almost accomplished this goal.
HISTORY:“Things used to be so simple…my life used to be so simple. ‘Kill the firebender’ they would say. I would answer their call. ‘Save us from the war’ they would say. I would answer their call. There was a common enemy, and common allies. All I had to do was kill firebenders and live to see the next day. But this new war….it is different. Something is changing in the world, and soon it won’t just be “kill and survive”. The world hangs in balance, a doom is upon our heads, and we are all pieces to a larger puzzle. This is my kind of war, but how will I turn out in the end?”
Maybe life is meant to be like this. Velox’s ancestors, Kaze Sicarius and Setsuna Strout, encountered such a problem, such a war and Velox is encountering the same problem, the same war. No, not the same war. It is not just a war of nations for him. In his mind, he is having an internal war, connected to the very nature of the current battles, and which side wins will lock who he is, and who he is to become, forever. But perhaps I am getting ahead of myself. Let us start at the begging, the very beginning.
Velox was born to Jon-chi and Mari Sicarius, in a small town called Trianon, in the middle of a cold winter. He grew up like a normal child, though an introverted one at that. He often spent more time with his parents than his own friends, and because of that they often taught him the things they knew. Jon-chi was part of the town guard, and was one of their best archers. Mari was an acrobat and performed at small shows. Each parent trained Velox in their respective field, and Velox began to excel greatly in both as he grew older. How quick he learned amazed both of his parents, almost to the point that they became fearful of his skill. But, even through this, Velox somehow still managed to have fun as a child. He experimented with different things, and often used his creativity for entertainment.
One day, when he was about 8 years old, Velox discovered his heritage. He discovered he was an airbender. He had heard so much about them from stories past, and was amazed to find out he was one. When he told his parents, they merely smiled, as really it only made sense. Only a bender, and an airbender at that, could be so skilled in their arts. They were happy for their son, but at the same time they were frightened. Even through this fear, though, they allowed Velox to train. They helped in every way they could, providing him with stories and scrolls on the monks, and helping him figure out airbending. Every day he would train, and everyday he would grow stronger in body and mind as he learned about his past and studied the arts of fighting.
Eventually Velox began to look farther into his past, and soon he discovered who was responsible for him being alive. He discovered his ancestors that had escaped the temples. Velox is decedent of two airbenders from the Southern Air Temple. These airbenders were Kaze Sicarius and Setsuna Strout. For a time they knew little about each other, but like in all love tales they soon met each other and eventually fell in love. They were a pair of the some of the most powerful airbenders at that temple, and they did great things. They were even considered the closest thing to royalty in the Southern Air Temple for their accomplishments and how kind they were. But unknown to some, they were not exactly rule followers. Most monks choose not to follow the path of violence, but Kaze and Setsuna took up a path of choosing to fight. They would secretly strike down anyone who chooses to harm the temples, and often there was bloodshed. But they believed their cause was noble, and so had no regrets in what they did.
For a long while they lived this life, but alas, soon the air temples were attacked by the fire nation. The two airbenders fought until they could fight no more, and when the fight was turning against them, they managed to barely escape with their lives. They fled to the earth kingdom, but even being there they soon were forced to go into hiding. They hid their airbending from the town, their friends, and even from their children. Even on the day of their deaths, they didn’t mention anything about their heritage. The only thing they passed down from the temples was a small locked box, only able to opened by an airbender. A few generations passed by, none of them discovering they were airbenders, with the only thing being passed down was that small box.
At the time Velox didn’t think this knowledge too important, it was just something to know. But in reality it was to show him what his future would be like, and what kind of person he would become. His ancestors choose to ignore the set rules in order to fight for what they believed, and so would he. And so he trained, and his parents helped. He got better and better each day, and often it was his training that he looked forward to most in the day. Training in airbending and following his parents chosen trades were the only things that made him feel truly connected to his people and his past.
His parents recognized his aptitude for fighting as well as his power of mind and body, and soon started making him hide even more from the world to the point that they were constantly moving. One day Velox finally got strong enough in bending that JJon-chi decided to bring out the box, the airbending box passed down from long ago. Velox looked at it with wonder, and without thinking, as if guided by some outside force, he opened it with a simple air current. The box popped open and lying inside it was a perfectly preserved air necklace. Velox admired it and immediately put it on. This seemed to lock in place his knowledge that he was truly and airbender, and it was at that point that his goals began to take root.
He hardly ever took off the necklace, and as a result he was soon discovered to be an airbender. Fire nation soldiers raided his town when he was 12 years of age, and his parents died in order to help him escape. It was a terrible slaughter, and its image stayed forever burned into the back of his mind. After this he was forced to live a life on his own. He knew if he stayed with anyone else they would only be killed. So he lived as a wanderer and learned how to survive in the woods, as well as how to become a good thief. He lived off of plants, learning which ones were edible and which ones were good for poisons, and became an excellent hunter. No one ever bothered him, and soon what fears he had of his future disappeared.
As he became older, the need of money became evident. So he took every part of his personality and every skill he knew and decided to become a hired assassin, adopting the title “The Assassin of the Air”. He made sure to only kill people who had done great wrongs to the world, and concentrated on assassinating mainly fire nation citizens. He loved that people feared him, and used his new grip on the world to forward his other goals as the “Air Prince”. His life went on for a while like this, a picture of death for the whole world. He even kept training in airbending, as he no longer had a fear of death. It was not long before he eventually became one of the most powerful airbenders currently surviving.
One day, while searching through the southern air temple, he found the room of his old ancestors. It surprised him greatly to find this room, and when he searched through it he found a box and in it was one of the finest made assassins outfits there were. It was white in color, and he immediately knew that this was his ancestors, and that they lead a life similar to his, if not a nobler one. He claimed the suit as his own, and took to reconsidering his life. Soon after he started calling himself by a title he had once forgotten, “The First Prince of The Air Nomads”, to emphasize his new goal of bringing together the surviving air nomads. He even once meet a fire bender, his most hated enemy, and ironically fell in love. The fire bender was named Rei, and since that event their love grew, despite only being able to see each other briefly. For once, his life was looking toward the better.
But soon his life took yet another turn. His love was obliterated, and his mind along with it, when Rei showed her true colors. This forced him to recede back into the darker parts of his personality, and it was there that he thought over a great many things, especially the future. He knew he would have to do a lot of training for what he foresaw coming, and he knew it would take all his effort to finish that training in time.
“Nothing is simple anymore. This isn’t just a war. This is the doom of the old world, and the rise of a new one, the rise of a world of secrets and enemies, of lies and politics. This is my kind of world, yet somehow I’m not sure if I will survive….”
During the Most Recent 2 years:Velox has spent the last 2 years doing a great many things, being very busy every day. He made contact with almost no one except those at the temples, and even then rarely because of how busy he was. Some of his time was spent looking for surviving airbenders and even people to live at the northern air temple. It was always one of his goals, but currently it was the goal he most wished to concentrate on. He succeeded greatly in this. Through his efforts there are always at least 5, if not close 10 people who are in the temple on a daily basis, now. Most are simple refugees looking for a place to call home. Some are earthbenders who respect the beauty of the temple and wish to rebuild them as they once were. And a few are truly airbenders, agreeing to stay at the temple in Velox’s hope to rebuild the air nation. He now visits the temples on a regular basis, serving as a source of information or protection for anyone who lives at the temples.
But that actually didn’t take up too much of his time. What he really did for a long part of those 2 years was training. He trained his mind in the art of strategy and battle planning, as well as the in the old wisdom and intelligence of the monks. He made it a goal to learn more about them, and to make sure he could outsmart anyone who would try to fight him. He also trained his body, training in weaponry to increase his accuracy of a blade and his ability to move unseen and unheard, as well as his bending. At first he thought there was little left he could do with his bending, but he soon stumbled upon something that, if it worked, would make him the most powerful airbender there was. He is on the verge of completing this task. It is only a matter of time.
The rest of his time was spent helping with the war effort, learning everything he could about the current conditions and helping whenever he could. He did a lot and helped in several battles, but it seemed no matter what he did the war remained the same. It even seemed like the war was worsening as new factions began popping up. What would this new war be like? And how would the world fair at the end of it?
Currently: The Silver Shadow“A shadow on the wall is all I seem to be these days. You may see me out of the corner of your eye, but when you turn to look, I am no longer there. My efforts go unseen, but strongly noticed. My silver blade always seems to be hungry for more. But, perhaps I have hidden to long. Perhaps I have stayed too long in the shadows. Perhaps it is time I show myself once again, and help end this fighting once and for all….”
Currently Velox has finally decided to reveal himself to the world once again after years of training. But he is not coming out as the air assassin, nor the First Prince, no he is coming out as something entirely new: The Silver Shadow. This time he knows what he wants, and what he must do. He is going to make sure this fighting will end; he is going to do it by finding the avatar and teaching him airbending. Not only that, but he is going to help out in the new war of factions, and try to make peace if it is possible.
If peace is not possible, and if the hope for the avatar seems all but lost, he will then do the only other thing he knows how to do. He will kill those in power, and make sure those who would wrong the world are gone, and in doing that try establish a new peace. But will this plan work? And what new events and enemies await the dreaded assassin?
”…No more will I be a shadow on the wall….”
